About

A new format for endurance.

RunDurance strips distance running down to its most primal question — who wants it more?

The concept

What is RunDurance?

RunDurance is a mass-start elimination race held on a single 400-metre athletics track. Every runner starts together. Every runner runs the same lap. And every runner is one overtake away from being out.

There are no age categories at the front of the race. There are no distance groups. Novice club runners line up alongside sub-elite athletes, and the format does the sorting.

Our story

Born in Worthing.

The idea came out of a club night at Worthing Leisure Centre — a group of runners looking for a race that didn't punish the slowest and didn't bore the fastest. Something that could be a 5K for one runner and a half marathon for another, on the exact same start line.

Our first event is at Worthing Leisure Centre with fields capped at 50 runners. We're taking calls from tracks across the UK about hosting future events.

Why it's different

Not another track meet.

Everyone on the same start line

No age groups, no waves, no seedings. The format sorts itself out.

No finish line, only a winner

The race is over when the second-to-last runner is eliminated.

Tactical, not just physical

Do you sit in the pack and stay safe, or push the front and force eliminations?

Spectator-friendly

Every lap the field visibly shrinks. Nothing to explain — it's obvious who's winning.

Ranking-driven series

Points across a season feed national, junior and club leaderboards.

Built for track culture

Designed around 400m tracks that already exist in every UK city.
